About Me

Hi! I am Vanessa the owner and therapist behind Dawn To Dusk Counselling. I help people prioritize their needs and empower them to make meaningful changes in their lives. I work with people who are navigating both mental and physical health concerns. My approach is affirming, anti-oppressive, and collaborative, tailoring therapeutic interventions to each client’s unique goals. I believe therapy works best in a safe, judgment-free environment where clients are welcomed exactly as they are.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. And I am a Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario Registration Number 18498.

Areas of Focus

Neurodivergence

Neurodivergence is an umbrella term used to describe brain functioning that differs from what is considered neurotypical. Neurodivergent individuals may process information in unique ways and can have distinct sensory, social, and care needs.

Chronic Illness/Pain

Chronic illness and chronic pain can significantly impact a person’s ability to engage in self-care activities, manage daily tasks, and participate in social interactions.

Grief

Grief is a natural physiological and emotional response to loss. It is not always connected to death. Many people grieve the expectations, hopes, or visions they once held for their future.

Depression

Depression often feels like a heavy weight, making it difficult to concentrate or find enjoyment in hobbies, interests, and social activities.

Anxiety

While anxiety is a normal human emotion, frequent or intense anxiety can interfere with a person’s ability to relax, engage in hobbies, and enjoy daily life.

Systemic Opression

Individuals from marginalized communities may face social, legal, and political biases that create barriers to safety and equity.
